How to reach us

From the Zurich train station

All intercity train trains make a stop at the Zurich main station of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). From there you can take a taxi (around 25 CHF) or you can take a tram to reach the University of Zurich Irchel campus.

If you choose to come by public transport, take tram number 10 in the direction "Zurich Flughafen" and exit at the stop "Universität Irchel" (Marker 2 on map). You can also take tram number 14 in direction "Seebach" and exit at the stop "Milchbuck" (Marker 2 on map). Both tram rides will take about 10 minutes. From there walk through the campus grounds to reach the institute. To purchase a 24 hour public transport pass press the button "Tageskarte Zone 10" on the ticket machine.

From the airport

From the airport you can either take a taxi (costing about CHF 45) or take a tram directly to university campus. Trams and buses depart from the front of the airport. Take tram 10 in direction "Zurich HB" and get off at the tram station "Milchbuck". From there walk through the campus ground to the institute. Tickets can be bought inside the airport terminal and must be purchased prior to boarding the tram.

Driving from the North

Shortly before Zurich, the highway passes a large power station. ("Heizkraftwerk Aubrugg") from where you should follow the signs for downtown "Zurich City" and then to "City, Milchbuck". At the end of a short tunnel you will pass by an exit labelled "Tierspital, Universität Irchel". From there continue for another 200m and on the left you will see the entrance to the University's underground multi-level car park (Universität Irchel).

Driving from from the East

Continue along highway N3 until its end. Then follow the signs for "Winterthur, St. Gallen" and "Flughafen (airport) Kloten". This route crosses the river Limmat on the "Escher-Wyss Brücke" and then proceeds up a long hill. At the top, take a right following the signs directing you to "Uni Irchel - Parkhaus", the Campus' underground multi-level car park.

Driving from from the West

Approximately 10km before Zurich, you will come to the "Limmattaler Kreuz" a fork in the highway. Keep right and follow signs in the direction "Zurich Nordring, St. Gallen" (A20). After about 12km the motorway will split, at this point follow the signs "Zurich City" and then signs directing you to "City, Milchbuck". At the end of a short tunnel you pass by the exit "Tierspital, Universität Irchel". Continue for another 200m and on your left you will see the entrance to the University's underground multi-level car park.
